Camp Brotherhood

Location: Mt. Vernon, Washington

Budget:  $110,000 (1968 dollars)

Size:  6000 sf.

Built in 1968, Camp Brotherhood was the realization of a vision: a place where people of all faiths could come together and develop a greater understanding of one another.

Designed by Larry Craig during his last year at the University of Washington School of Architecture, the project was completed by Larry and 12 UW School of Architecture classmates.

Project features include a great room for large gatherings, a kitchen/dining area, two dormitory rooms, restroom facilities, and decks. The trusses and light fixtures were designed and built on-site by Larry and his team, and all siding was cut to fit precisely, elminating the need for trim.

Upon completion, Governor Dan Evans dedicated the building in a ceremony honoring Rabbi Levin & Father Tracy, the men responsible for the original vision.
